Using One Computer in the Classroom

There is problem with lack of classrooms in public school in our town.There is only two english classroom.Two teachers has classroom  and other english teachers move from classroom to classroom when they have a lesson. The same with me.So the article about Using one computer in the classroom gave me wonderful ideas what kind of activities to use. Some of these i can do using computer.

 Use the Computer as Teacher Tool:

  • Keep records, manipulate information, produce individual letters to parents.
  • Produce a class newsletter.
  • Create customized follow-up work for lessons.
  • Make personalized certificates of achievement.
  • Create customized graphic organizers and direction sheets.
  • Create charts, student lists and name tags.
  • Communicate with other professionals and subject experts via email.

This week i learned about this amazing website for wallwisher.It give you blank wall  and you will  write whatever you want. I planning to use this on my next trainining with teachers. I will use it at the end of the workshop.I will ask each teacher to write what article or womething new they learned during the training. I can you it with students .

week 6

Again what a rich week with lots of reading. We learned about how to engage students in large classes.  The numbr of students in one class is from 35-45. For us it is large class.Beside we have problem with not enough chairs and desks. In large classes is good to teach coorperative learning. I learn many activtiies  some of them i already used in class.Some challange i had creating interactive power point. I thought inew about power point but creating it was alittle hard.  But i did one small one and shared on wiki. In future  when i will use power point  to make lesson intersting using  different games like jeopardy and have vocabulary  and readng quizzes.

My first webquest

In this week 5 i have learned about Web quest  from Zunal website. It wonderful website full of webquest. I havenever used it before. For the first time i created my own. It isjust exampple. I will create some more. It is just begining. :)

Technoloy related change.

We have electricity problem and internet access. For all schools in our town there are 14 schools there is no internet access. Internet isluxury and expensive. ring But some teachers buy their own dial-up 50 kb modem which has internet and use it when they want to show somthing in Internet. I have the same modem and bring it and put in my laptop and show some websites or video.

Week 5 Project Based Learning

hello everyone,
Project based learning is a great approach. it creates friendly learning environment where students learn language for purpose. It foster motivation and develop critical thinking in students. I got familiar with pbl  last year. I myself did not do but I joined other teachers to do projects.  One English teacher in our town did several projects and I joined her project Folk Tale and  Digital Storytelling and Photojournalism this year. When I was reading article by Susan Gaer I saw folktale project she did with class was the same like we did. Our English teacher like to  to join to projects from www.iearn.org  she took Folk tale project from there. The task was to take one Tajik folk tale and translate  it in English and publish  and share with our countries. She also asked students to illustrate the folk tales.  In such way we had 30 folk tales and got grant and published our book. This project had great success. Students were happy to see the result of their work. They read a folk tale to elementary school and kindergarten. Every students had their task to do: some searched book with Tajik folk tale, some had to  translate them, some typed  inMs word and every one after submitting folk tale  read other countries folk tale and discussed in group and looked for moral. Students become very interested  and motivated.They stood out from other  students at school.  This project increased their self esteem.  They become very proud when they accomplished all  the projects.
But as for rubric we do not use it PBL it is something for me. But now I realize how it is very important to assess student.

In future I plan to do my own pbl.I become very interested.

week 4

 This week is very rich and challenging.Interesting and useful readings and describing our class.

I teach in public school.My class is 6th grade. The problem my school has with technology.We have computers only in computer lab and other classrooms has no computers, As for me i bring my laptop to class and show some video related to the topic for example if it is weather i show song from youtube or any listening. The second issue is Our textbooks are very old and have no coloful pages and not ennough materisls provided in each unit. For example is it is Passive voice there are less exercises to it. And there is no absolutley listening tasks and no any Cds for listening. I serach from internet listening exercises, dilogues for my class. And if we have topic London there are not enough information about it and no any photos. And students will get no idea how London look like. And here will be good to use Power Point. I download photos of places of interest in London and show it to my students ans video as well. In such way students will get idea how London look like and technology will motivate students. That day when i bring my computer and games my students are vry happy and very engaged in learning. I dream to have whiteboard or interactive board.

And writing ABC objective was a little challanging but it is something new. I will use it with my colleagues.

I have read Article by Jarek Krajka http://iteslj.org/Techniques/Krajka-WritingUsingNet.html. This website give me full information how enhance technology in lesson. As i am young teacher i need some ideas how use technology in my lessonls. From this artice i learned how use emailing haveing pan pals, creating webpages and webpublishing. But in my case i can use onlu emailing with my students. As my students do not know technology well. Creating webistes or webpublishing will be diffciult for them. But i can introduce them emails.They open accounts and start wrriting to each other to improve writing. I consider writing very diffcult skills. My students makes lots of mistakes. In our curriculum we have to focus in reading and writing. So I think i will use emailing. Before i had class we had a box and students wrote on piwcw of paper letters to each other.It improved alittle writing. I took those letters and checked some spelling and then we discussed them in class as warm up activity.

I found another website by Lauri's ESL Website http://fog.ccsf.edu/~lfriedvery useful as well.I liked grammar and listening sections they are good for my class. I think my students will like this website. 

An ABCD objective I would state would be: "6th grade students will be able to develop reading and writing skills through writing emails each other .
